How do I acces the online class?

My class is taught via Zoom. You access the live stream by clicking on a link that I share with you in my Private Facebook group.

How do I join the private Facebook group?
If you  have not previously attended the class you will need complete the enrolment process first. Once complete you can request to join the group.

I'm already in the private Facebook group, do I still need to book each class?

Yes. Private Facebook group members need to book before attending the online session each week.  The link for the class will be shared in the group on the day of the class.

 

Do I have to keep my camera on during the online class?

For your first class I will ask you to switch your camera on at the very start so that I can meet you (and check you're you!).  I'd love to see you and keep you motivated during the session, but if you'd prefer to keep your camera off after our meet and greet that's fine.. you can truly "dance like no one's watching"!


Do you teach any in person classes?

Yes.  From the week starting 17th May 2021, indoor classes resume. Go to this page to see the class time table.

How do I join the in person classes?

If it's your first time attending an in person session in 2021, you will need to complete an enrolment form here before booking your session (even if you're an existing online class member).

How much do the classes cost?

The online class costs per session £2.50 payable after the class has finished. The in person classes at The Space Falmouth are £5.00 and must be paid on the day of booking  in order to secure your spot.  Payments can be made by PayPal or Bank transfers - see here for details.

 

What is Zumba?

A group exercises class involving mixed intensity movement set to exciting Latin and global rhythms, including Salsa, Merengue, Bhangra, Hip Hop,  Reggaeton, Flamenco & Samba.  Zumba is the creation of Columbian fitness instructor Beto Perez, who after leaving his fitness cassettes at home one day, had to improvise there and then with the Latin music he had in his car! And so Zumba was born!

How long is the Zumba Class?

A typical class is an 55-60 minutes. We start with a super easy warm up of around ten minutes, followed by a dozen or so routines set to different music from around - so around half to three quarters of an hour of "working out" finishing with a fun cooldown and stretch of around ten minutes. 

What is Urban Dance Fitness?

A more traditional format  where we learn a single piece of street dance inspired choreography that we layer and layer. For those of you who loved the old "booiaka" class, this will be just your cup of tea! This is also a 55-60 minute class.

How will I know what to do?

I will show you! Watch and follow me - I will cue and guide you througout the class.  And don't worry... we keep the routines for several weeks so that you get the chance to do them again and again and really nail them.

​I'm new to fitness.

No problem! Zumba caters for all abilities and fitness levels and it's absolutely no problem to work at your own pace.  Zumba is not competitive. When we learn each routine we learn to map out the steps in a really easy way and as your fitness and confidence grows you will soon find your own style and personality come through.. you won't be able to help it!

I'm already pretty fit, will this be too easy?

So at the risk of saying "come and have a go if you think you're hard enough" I'll echo what's said above, that it's a class where you really can put as little or as much into it as you like. From professional athletes, through to personal trainers and academy trained dancers, I've had many people leave surprised (in a good way) at what a solid full body workout it really is.

​I can't dance/have no coordination.

I don't believe you....nope....but just to put your mind at rest, first and foremost this is fitness class not a dance class. We use influences from dance styles, but the emphasis is very much on simple movement to work the whole body. There is a lot of repetition within each routine we do, so you get time to really learn the steps, plus we keep the same routines for a long time meaning even if you don't get it the first time, you will have plenty of chances to have a go next time.

​I struggle with left and right.

As said. Really does not matter.  Zumba is taught predominantly using visual cues rather than verbal cues..so I will SHOW you what to do rather than TELL you.

​What should I wear?

Comfort is the key.. so clothing that allows you to move freely and stay cool and a good pair of trainers.  I'd recommend a sports trainer (as opposed to a fashion trainer) that does not have too much grip on the sole. More often than not "studio" or "cross trainers",  are better in this regards than a "running" shoe. No heels, flip flops, bare feet or sandals.

What else do I need ?

A bottle of water to sip during the class and a warm top for when you leave the class as your body starts to cool down. Please also be sure to read the covid saftey policy before attending class - the policy will be linked on the booking form when you book each class.

Is the class open to all ages?

This class is open to anyone ages 18 and over.
